		To date, the only city I have ever built in is L.A.– a city that has always defied definition.  The challenge for any designer in this city is to merge the constants of the client, the site, and the set of building standards with the variable of Los Angeles’ style.  It is important for me to bring some sensitivity and awareness of this city to my projects – either through siting or material – in order to help my clients achieve their goals in harmony with the city around them.  I have found, interestingly enough, that building code limitations are often the catalyst for some of the best designs.  I do not propose to have the ultimate solutions to my clients’ dreams, but I offer direction by way of experience and a desire to contribute to our community. Barbara Masket Design, Inc., established in 1989, is located in Los Angeles, California.  BMD Inc. specializes in high-end residential and commercial design, as well as interiors.  Barbara Masket, principal designer and owner of the firm, is a native of New Jersey.  She earned a Masters Degree in Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, (SCI-Arc), and a Bachelor of Arts degree at American University in Washington, D.C.
